Balchem – NitroShure™ Nitrogen technical details

NitroShure™ Precision Release Nitrogen represents a breakthrough in rumen nutrition technology, designed to optimize microbial growth and nitrogen utilization. By using Balchem’s proprietary encapsulation technology, NitroShure™ provides a consistent and controlled nitrogen supply to rumen microbes, ensuring synchronized release with carbohydrate availability for maximum microbial activity.

Feeding NitroShure™ helps “feed the microbes that feed your cow” — improving the efficiency of rumen fermentation and enabling more high-quality microbial protein synthesis. This results in better fiber digestion, higher dry matter utilization, and improved milk yield and composition.

NitroShure™ also serves as a cost-effective alternative to traditional vegetable or animal protein sources, reducing feed costs while creating up to 2 pounds (0.9 kg) of additional ration space. This space can be utilized for forages, non-fiber carbohydrates, or other high-energy ingredients that enhance productivity.

Studies consistently show that NitroShure™:

  • Increases microbial protein yield by up to 286 grams/day.
  • Improves nutrient digestibility (crude protein +9.3%, NDF +10.6%).
  • Boosts milk yield by 2.3–2.4 kg/cow/day versus control diets.
  • Reduces metabolic nitrogen waste and farm carbon footprint.

As part of Balchem’s sustainability commitment, NitroShure™ enables producers to do more with less—producing efficient, profitable, and environmentally responsible dairy nutrition.
